Rev. Canon Aaron Mwesigye
Rev. Canon Aaron Mwesigye began his ministry as Provincial Secretary of the Church of Uganda on 1st March 2005.
Prior to serving as Provincial Secretary, Mwesigye served for seven years on the staff of Mbarara University for Science and Technology (MUST), lecturing in the Faculty of Development Studies as well as serving as University Chaplain. He also served as Faculty Research Coordinator, and, from 2003-2004 was the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Development Studies.
Mwesigye has a Bachelor of Divinity (Hons) from the Bishop Tucker School of Divinity and Theology, Mukono, and a Master of Arts in Theology and Development Studies from the University of Leeds, UK. He has also pursued post-graduate courses in counseling and management.
Mwesigye’s areas of professional interest are ethics, peace building, and human rights, the ethics of development and society, and good governance. He is a member of the Anti-Corruption Coalition and the Coalition for Ethics and Integrity in Uganda.
As Provincial Secretary, he has led the Provincial Secretariat in building a culture of transparency and accountability through the creation of a Human Resource Policy, a Financial Policy, and a Procurement Policy. Likewise, he has persisted in leading the Secretariat to develop a Strategic Plan.
Mwesigye is married to Phoebe. They have seven children and one grandchild.
