Rev. Canon Amos Magezi
Prior to assuming the position of Provincial Secretary, Canon Amos was serving as the Dean of St. James Cathedral, Ruharo and Bishop’s Commissar Ankole Diocese.
Canon Amos was the Founding Director and Principal of the Uganda Bible Institute. This position formed him into a seasoned administrator, resource mobilizer, team builder and visionary leader.
Canon Amos has been awarded the following degrees:
- Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Reformed Theological Seminary, Jackson, Mississippi, USA;
- Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership and Management (MAOLM) from Uganda Christian University, Mukono;
- Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies (BABS) with a minor in Education, from African Bible College, Lilongwe, Malawi, East and Central Africa.
As Provincial Secretary, Canon Amos dreams of integrated planning, financial sustainability, well trained and equipped ministry personnel, strong strategic partnerships with government, parachurch organizations and other Christian organizations to achieve the Vision and Mission of the Church of Uganda.
Canon Amos has enjoyed a personal relationship with Jesus Christ since 28th August 1987. He is married to Jean Nyonyozi Magezi and they have six children.
On 11th July 2017, Canon Amos was elected by the House of Bishops to be the first Bishop of Northwest Ankole Diocese. He will be consecrated and enthroned on 1st October 2017 at St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, Ibanda, the same day the Diocese will be inaugurated.
